Teacher Workshops


Dinosaurs: Not Just Any Old Reptiles!

Workshop location: Commons Learning Center, The University of Texas at Austin J. J. Pickle Research Campus (PRC). 10100 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78758

In this FREE workshop, educators will work with a paleontologist to:

  • investigate characteristics shared by extinct dinosaurs and birds;

  • demonstrate how trackways provide evidence for dinosaur anatomy and behavior; and

  • evaluate and appreciate artwork depicting extinct dinosaurs.

Teachers will participate in inquiry-based activities using TMM specimens and educational materials. 

This training is designed for 3rd through 8th grade teachers, including classroom, homeschool and informal science educators. 

Each educator will receive:

  • curriculum aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and STAAR standards;
  • opportunity to check out loaner kits of specimens & materials used in the training; and
  • credit for 2 hours of continuing professional education (CPE)
